How to Include a Gift

Leaving a legacy gift to TQF is simple, whether you're creating your first Will or updating an existing one.

You can choose to leave:
• The residue or a percentage of the residue of your estate
• A fixed sum of money
• A percentage or share of your total estate
• Specific items, such as real estate, shares, vehicles, or other valued assets

Making end-of-life arrangements can be overwhelming and it is important to get it right. We recommend talking through the different options with your lawyer to decide the best type of gift for you and your circumstances.

What is legacy giving?

Legacy giving is a powerful way to create lasting change. It’s when you choose to include a gift to a cause you care about-like the Tony Quinn Foundation-in your Will. The most common form is a bequest, where you leave money, assets, or possessions to help fuel the future long after you're gone. It’s your chance to turn passion into impact.

What types of gifts can I leave?

Legacy gifts come in many forms. You can leave:

A sum of money
The proceeds of a life insurance policy or retirement fund
Shares, bonds, real estate, cars, or other meaningful assets

How do I leave a gift in my Will to TQF?

There are several ways to include us in your Will:

The remainder of your estate or a percentage of the remainder of your estate. This is known as a residuary legacy.
A percentage of your estate
A fixed sum of money
Specific items, such as property, shares, or other assets

A residuary legacy is one of the most flexible and future-proof options-it naturally adjusts with your estate and may not require updates over time.

What if I already have a Will?

You can easily update your Will to include the Tony Quinn Foundation. Just speak to your lawyer, and they can guide you through a simple update. You can also download our “Changes to My Will” form to help the process.

What if I don’t have a Will yet?

Creating a Will is one of the most important steps in protecting your legacy. Without one, the law decides how your estate is distributed-and your wishes may not be followed. If you’re writing your Will and want to include us, here’s an example of what to write:

I leave, free of all duties, to the Tony Quinn Foundation Trustees Limited (NZBN 9429049309997) the residue of my estate, OR % of the residue of my estate, OR the sum of $___, AND/OR the following items: ________, to be used and applied for general purposes.

Do I have to tell you I’ve left a gift?

You don’t have to tell us-but we’d love it if you do. Knowing about your gift gives us the chance to thank you, keep you informed about the impact you’re making, and honour your legacy the way it deserves.

Who manages the Tony Quinn Foundation?

The Tony Quinn Foundation boasts a wealth of well-connected motorsport industry players and trustees including Tony Quinn, Steve Horne, Greg Murphy, John Gordon, Josie Spillane and Dan Gaunt. The trustees and those that support the trust all share a common goal – to foster and maintain excellence within New Zealand motorsport. How will my gift be used?

Your legacy will help keep New Zealand on the world motorsport map. From our driver development at Hampton Downs Racing Academy, to road safety initiatives, to career-launching grants, your gift will help shape the future of our sport and save lives on and off the track.

Can I choose how my gift is used-or who it goes to?

Our trustees are constantly assessing our young driver’s needs, potential, and achievements in real time. This means they know where and when your gift should be spent to maximise your investment in the future of motorsport.
